Welcome to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Dharmapuri

District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Dharmapuri is a district-level institute offering teacher education programmes for elementary education. This institute is fully funded by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) and administered by the School Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, through the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Chennai.

Situated at Settikarai – 636704, Dharmapuri District, the institute is equipped with modern facilities such as smart classrooms and virtual classrooms, catering to the needs of aspiring student teachers as well as in-service teachers in the district.

The institute also provides critical academic support to prominent educational organizations such as Samagra Shiksha and the National Child Labour Programme (NCLP).

Restructuring of DIETs

As per G.O. (Ms) No.175, School Education (ERT) Department, dated 09.10.2023, and the amendment to G.O. (Ms) No.92, dated 09.05.2018.

20 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) across Tamil Nadu follow Model II, where the primary focus is imparting in-service training to teachers to enhance educational quality.
